Dowa
Save me, my Lord, from the earthly passions and the attachments which blind humankind.
Save me, my Lord, from the temptations of power, fame and wealth, which keep humankind from Thy glorious vision.
Save me, my Lord, from the souls who are constantly occupied in hurting and harming their fellow-people, and who take pleasure in the pain of another.
Save me, my Lord, from the evil eye of envy and jealousy, which falleth upon Thy bountiful gifts.
Save me, my Lord, from falling into the hands of the playful children of earth, lest they might use me in their games; they might play with me and then break me in the end, as children destroy their toys.
Save me, my Lord, from all manner of injury that cometh from the bitterness of my adversaries and from the ignorance of my loving friends. Amen
From the Ragas, in the Vadan of Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan
What I may not see, let me not see;
What I may not hear, let me not hear;
What I may not know, I ask not to know.
Beloved, I am contented with both Thy speech and Thy silence.
Let him/her not see me who should not see me;
Let him/her not hear me who will not hear me;
Let him/her not know me who need not know me.
Beloved, veil and unveil me as Thy wisdom chooseth. Amen

Mohammed’s Prayer on Light
Oh God, give me light in my heart,
And light in my touch,
And light in my hearing,
And light in my sight,
And light in my feeling,
And light in all my body,
And light before me,
And light behind me,
Give me, I pray thee,
Light on my right hand
And light on my left hand,
And light above me,
And light beneath me.
Oh Lord, increase light within me,
And give me light and illuminate me.
These are the lights the Prophet asked for.
Verify to possess such light means
To be contemplated by the Light of Lights. Amen.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
Mother Theresa’s Prayer
Dear Jesus, help us to spread Your fragrance everywhere we go.
Flood our souls with Your spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess our whole being, so utterly,
That our lives may only be a radiance of Yours.
Shine through us, and be so in us,
That every soul we come in contact with may feel Your presence in our soul.
Let them look up and see no longer us, but only Jesus!
Stay with us, and then we shall begin to shine as You shine;
So to shine as to be a light to others.
The light O Jesus will be all from You, none of it will be ours;
It will be You, shining on others through us.
Let us thus praise You without preaching, not by words but by our example,
By the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what we do,
The evident fullness of the love our hearts bear to You. Amen
The Lords Prayer (from New Zealand) Say in unison:
Eternal Spirit,
Earth-maker,
Pain-bearer,
Life-giver,
Source of all that is and that shall be,
Father and Mother of us all,
Loving God, in whom is heaven:
The hallowing of your name echo through the universe!
The way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world!
Your heavenly will be done by all created beings!
You commonwealth of peace and freedom sustain our hope and come on earth.
With the bread we need for today, feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us.
In times of temptation and test, strengthen us.
From trials too great to endure, spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil, free us.
For you reign in the glory of the power that is love, now and forever. Amen
Wise Sayings
Contemplations Recommended by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan for Healing
I am coming from a perfect source and I am bound for a perfect goal.
The light of the perfect being is kindled in my soul.
I live and move and make my being in God, and nothing in the world of the past or the
present has the power to touch me, for I rise above all.
Rachel Naiomi Remen, MD
The purpose of life is to grow in wisdom and to learn to love better.
If life serves these purposes, then health serves these purposes.
And illness serves them as well, because illness is part of life.
Reb Nahman of Bratlav
Friends, do not despair, for a difficult time has come upon us,
Joy must fill the air.
We must not lose our faith in living.
We must not despair.
Yes, a difficult time is upon us, so joy must fill the air.
Nasihah of Kwajah Mu’inuddin Chisti to his Mureeds
Love all and hate none.
Mere talk of peace will avail you naught.
Mere talk of God and religion will not take you far.
Bring out all of the latent powers of your being
And reveal the full magnificence of your immortal Self.
Be surcharged with peace and joy,
And scatter them wherever you are and wherever you go.
Be a blazing fire of truth,
Be a beauteous blossom of love and be a soothing balm of peace.
With your spiritual light, dispel the darkness of ignorance;
dissolve the clouds of discord and war and spread goodwill,
peace and harmony among the people.
Never seek any help, charity, or favors from anyone except God.
Never go to the courts of kings,
but never refuse to bless and help the needy and the poor,
the widow, and the orphan, if they come to your door.
This is your mission,
To serve the people…..
Carry it our dutifully and courageously so that I, as your Pir-o-Murshid,may not be ashamed of any shortcomings on your part before the Almighty God and our holy predecessors in the Sufi Silsilah On the Day of Judgment.
Marianne Williamson on Light
Our deepest fear
Is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear
Is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, That most frightens us.
We ask ourselves:
“Who am I to be so brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?”
Actually, who are you not to be?
We were born to make manifest the glory, the God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us;
It’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear our presence automatically liberates others.

The Hopi Elders Speak, By Oraibi, Arizona Hopi Nation
You have been telling the people that this is the eleventh hour.
Now you must go back and tell the people that this is the hour
And there are things to be considered:
Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know your garden.
It is time to speak your truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
To my fellow swimmers, there is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so fast and swift that there are those who will be afraid.
They will try to hold on to the shore.
They will feel that they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly.
Know that the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore, Push off into the middle of the river; keep
Our eyes open and our heads above water.
And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate!
At this time in history we are to take nothing personally – least of all our selves.
For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over.
Gather yourselves!
Banish the words ‘struggle’ from your attitude and vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
